PLAYWRIGHT ANTHONY CICATIKO TALKS ABOUT HIS PLAY
THE GREAT CROSS CONSPIRACY
Q: WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO WRITE THIS PLAY?
A: I feel that this play was directly inspired by Holy Ghost. See the note below.
Q: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OR LINE IN THE PLAY? WHY?
A: I like the epiphany Tom gets when he realizes Jesus is the Christ. And the subsequent belief that his destiny is to save Jesus. I like when he attempts to write the story to save Jesus.
Q: WHERE DID THE CHARACTERS COME FROM? ARE THEY BASED ON PEOPLE YOU KNOW?
A: Carol is my wife. She has an uncanny ability to keep me grounded when I want to fly off the handle.
Q: WHAT DID YOU TRY TO ACHIEVE WITH THIS PLAY?
A: I wanted to tell the gospel message in a different and entertaining way.
Q: DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO ADD?
A: At the risk of sounding too spiritual I would like to say that I feel this play is inspired by the Holy Ghost. There are too many things in it that seemed to go together too well. Things that only biblically-read people will appreciate such as Nicodemus coming at night, the fact that the man at the well did not know the name of Jesus at the time of his healing, knowing that is against the law to say a word against the ruler of thy people. I really do thank Jesus for the idea of The Great Cross Conspiracy.
