Debbie Layher

Several years ago, I was asked to work with the youth of my church as the drama leader. I told everyone that I was unqualified for this role, as my only theatrical experience is watching a lot of TV and dropping out of drama class in the 11th grade. But, for some reason, I’m still the go-to girl for drama at FBC. I love writing and wish it could be my job, not just my hobby. By day, I am a floral designer. Over the years, I have directed several dinner theaters, and just this year wrote my first one. Our team performed it during a weekend in August and it was one of the highlights of my life— corny as that sounds. I’m currently working on the sequel. I write children’s sermons and worship skits, as well. I live in a small town in southwest Virginia. In my twenties, I served 6 years in the U.S. Navy, which was a turning point in my life. I have a husband, a daughter in law school, 2 dogs, a cat, and a feral chicken in the woods behind my house.
