"It was awesome! Of all the visitors, we had one to raise his hand that he had accepted Jesus as his personal Savior! Praise the Lord! That's what it is all about!" -- B.M., Glad Tidings Church, Greeley, CO

Behold, the Lamb of God
"Good production in the fact that you can rehearse sections with 2-3 characters and then put together at the end; Also, no big set pieces needed." -- Willow Oak Christian Church, Virginia, VA

Great way to present Easter from a different perspective
This is a great play if you have limited resources for actors and want a very simple set. We used 8 volunteers from our church to act the parts, put them in simple Biblical costumes (think large pieces of fabric with holes cut for arms), and had a talented volunteer craft and decorate a wood-framed well as the centerpiece of the set. Our only other props were a handmade spear and a clay jug. As the music director, I chose songs to weave in between character (scene) changes, which created the perfect balance.
As for the narrative, the congregation loved hearing the Easter story from a new perspective- that of a Roman Captain who participated in the Crucifixion. Watching people come to a village well and witness to him about Jesus’ life and their encounters with Him was very impactful. This play shows the importance of our witness and the power of the Resurrection message.
As for feedback, I’d say remove the language where the husband calls his wife “woman” in order to be more sensitive. The scene with the boy and his mother was a lot for a child to memorize, so maybe shorten it. The last scene where the Roman Captain experiences a conversion could use a few more profound lines to draw out the moment.
